We can convert your Ruger 77/50 bolt to use our sealed breech 209 system, or send you an entire new 209 converted bolt. The conversion of your existing bolt is cheaper!
After getting some requests from Ruger 77/50 owners, we've modified our sealed breech 209 system to work on Ruger 77/50 rifles. The conversion is more difficult than converting a Remington, so for now we only offer this as a service (we currently will not offer DIY kits). Turn around on these is 4 weeks, to 2 months. Depends on if its hunting season and how much other work I have on my bench. Got questions? Please use the contact form or call us at the phone number on the bottom of every page so we can chat about it.
Purchase this service, and mail us your bolt. We'll take out and discard your old striker, convert, & send your bolt back with:
- a new breech plug
- vent liner
- small screw (to serve as a bolt stop)
- hex head L wrench.
Be sure to put your email address in the online check out so that you can be emailed a receipt with our address. (if you want your take out parts back please let us know, but remember once the conversion is done, there really isn't any going back to the old system, and by default I through them in my junk bin).
I wrote a blog post about this kit; you probably should read it.
Live out west and have a season where you can't use a sealed breech or 209's, but then have another where you can? Don't want to go through the trouble of converting your original bolt? Bought a rifle that is missing a bolt? Not a problem! Instead of converting, we can make an entire 209 converted bolt for you!
Our Ruger 77/50 kit uses a similar breech plug as our Remington 209 kit, except that our Ruger kit crushes primers to achieve a seal. You may need to try a few different brands and see what seals in your rifle.
Also you'll need to replace the forward most screw on the left side of the receiver with the one we send in order to make the bolt stop its rearward movement to place the bolt nose in the loading window. It makes priming and de-priming much easier, though it does complicate bolt removal (you have to back the screw out a few turns to take the bolt out).

Turn around on this conversion will be as long as a month as it is more involved than converting the Remington (or can take even longer during the holidays!).

The original setup is filthy. Our conversion will stop the blow-back from getting all through the rifle. Please clean up all the blow back by removing the barreled action and scrubbing it away before you put our conversion to use!
