Muzzle Loader 209 Primer Pocket Shim Packs
Useful in muzzle loaders that need a light crush to seal the primer. Typically used to improve sealing in breech plugs that have shelves that the face of the primer sits against to seal. These shims will make the pocket slightly shallower and can effect a good seal. Made from stainless steel. Come in packs of 3.
They have two diameters: 241 and 248. The 241 shims tend to float in the primer pocket and can fall out. 248 shims tend to lodge or wedge into the pocket and won't fall out (if .248 shims fall out of your rifle's primer pocket contact the rifle's manufacturer: it has a primer pocket made out of spec). Typically if more than one shim is needed 241 shims are used first, then the final shim is a 248 to hold them all in place.
We have varying thicknesses. .003, .005, and .030 (yes that's 30 thousandths! It's thick!) Make sure you select the diameter and thickness desired!
Use a soft punch to set the shims firmly bottomed into the primer pocket.
Beware! Too much crush on a primer can set it off! It doesn't take much to get an effective seal!
See our Terms of Use for more details.
