Generic 2 round dowel plug
This dowel is placed in the magazine tube and takes the place of two 3" shells. Effectively reducing a 4 shell capacity magazine tube down to 2 shells in order to comply with federal migratory bird hunting regulations.
To use: For complete instructions refer to your shotgun's user manual. In summary: The shot gun is placed on "safe" and confirmed unloaded. Then cap at the end of the magazine tube is removed. On some models, like the Ithaca M37/M87 the barrel of the shotgun is removed, then the magazine cap can be removed. This dowel is slipped into the center of the magazine spring via the hole at the end of the magazine tube. Then the barrel/magazine cap is placed back on the 'on safe', unloaded shotgun.
How it works: It blocks up the last few inches of the magazine tube, only allowing two rounds to be placed into the magazine tube.
Only for use on shotguns with magazine tubes that have capacity of four shells. IE a 4 +1 gun is made a 2 +1 gun with this plug.
Use the wood version on Mossberg 930 & 940 shotguns if you want to slip it through the hole in the end of the magazine tube... if you remove the cap that retains the magazine spring you can use either. Most other guns can use either type (plastic or wood), but the Mossberg's have smaller hole in the cap that retains the magazine spring, and require the wood version to fit through the cap.
